Looking for inspiration for a Labor Day weekend getaway? Think of Las Vegas.

There are plenty of daily flights from Phoenix and if you can’t find a cheap flight in the short term, it’s a manageable 300 mile ride (or an affordable bus ride). This makes for a great last minute getaway.

With so much going on in Las Vegas over Labor Day weekend, I’ve put together this handy guide for everything from short-term hotel deals and restaurant openings to people who are hanging out. produce in concert halls and nightclubs.

Last minute hotel deals

Hotel room prices skyrocket on holiday weekends, but you can always find something reasonable. Some resorts offer last minute sales if you book directly through their websites.

I shopped these sales to see the best rates for Labor Day weekend. It’s no surprise that Saturday is the most expensive day, followed by Friday. But Sunday rates have fallen dramatically.

Of course, these are all subject to availability and don’t forget to factor in parking and resort fees.

Wynn Las Vegas: Wynn is offering up to 35% off room rates during Labor Day weekend when you book through Use reservation code WY7248.

Venetian and Palazzo: These neighboring resorts are offering 25% off rooms booked online through August 23. The offer includes a $ 75 cocktail credit at Electra Cocktail Club, Rosina and The Dorsey establishments. If you book after August 23, you can save up to 20%. Book at

Caesars Entertainment: Book Aug 28-Sep. 4 to get 40% off rooms at Caesars properties. Some rooms cost as little as $ 28 a night. The sale is valid on bookings until May 31, 2020. Blackout dates apply.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino: From August 29 to September 3, the resort waives the resort fee of $ 36 plus tax per night for reservations made through Use reservation code HHNRF9P.

Labor Day Concerts

These stars who make residences in Las Vegas perform over Labor Day weekend.

  • Actor Ali Wong is at the Encore Theater in Wynn Station Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
  • Country music group Lady Antebellum plays at the Palms on August 28, 30 and 31.
  • The legendary Dear will perform at Park MGM on August 28 and 31 and September 1.
  • The 80s metal band Def Leppard will play at Caesars Palace on August 29 and 31 and September 1.

Happy place: The Happy Place traveling pop-up exhibit opens on August 23 in Mandalay Bay. Browse 12 room installations designed to make you feel a little happier. It doesn’t hurt that photo ops look great on your Insta. Tickets cost $ 30.

A cocktail big enough for 10: Speaking of Instagrammable stuff, the Bottoms Up Cocktail at the new Caesars Palace’s Vanderpump Cocktail Garden is made with Casamigos Blanco tequila, Cointreau, jalapeño, strawberry and lime. You’ll need to recruit friends: it can serve up to 10 people and costs $ 225.

A $ 1,000 steak: If you literally want to eat your money, Mr. Chow has a $ 1,000 gold encrusted filet mignon. Wrapped in gold leaf and garnished with caviar, it is served with a Krug Grande Cuvée Brut champagne accord. You have to ask for the dish 48 hours in advance.

New Italian restaurant: Opening August 26 at the MGM Grand is Ambra Italian Kitchen and Bar, which aims to give an elegant and sexy touch to Italian cuisine. Look for the secluded door that opens to his hidden sweatshop, Privata.

Tequila bar: Mama Rabbit Mezcal and Tequila Bar opens August 28 at Park MGM. Created by James Beard Award winner Bricia Lopez, the bar celebrates Mexico with mezcal, tequila and light snacks.
